Artist Bio: Janaya is a New York based visual artist specializing in acrylic and pencil mediums. Her work depicts humanity and emotional authenticity, drawing inspiration from fashion, editorial photography and cultural references. Self-taught, the Bay Area native began painting in 2020 as a means of therapeutic meditation. With photo-realistic intention, Janaya highlights the beauty and rich identities of her subjects – embracing bold values and prominent colors. Some of her recent exhibitions include the 2023 de Young Open at de Young Museum in San Francisco, as well as placements on the Oprah Winfrey Network, San Jose’s Nirvana Soul and 1Culture Gallery, among others. Capturing the complexities of self-expression and human connection, Janaya hopes to excel her intricate artwork by virtue of storytelling. In her latest collaboration, Janaya joins forces with Ashy Aromas—a fragrance house where scent meets soul, rooted in culture, care, and creative expression. Together, they invite you into an immersive experience of art and atmosphere. Her collection is now on view inside the Ashy Aromas space through September 2025.
